Vaishnavi was born in Madhya Pradesh, India, on September 9, 1974. Anu Mehta is her younger sister. Vaishnavi is also a registered dietitian. Vaishnavi made her Bollywood debut as a child actress in the 1988 film Veerana as young Jasmin. Other films in which she has appeared include Laadla (1994), Bambai Ka Babu (1996), Barsaat Ki Raat (1998), Maa Exchange (2011), and Dosti Ke Side Effects (2019). In 1997, she became a household name thanks to DD National's superhero television show, 'Shaktimaan.' Following that, she appeared in a number of popular television shows, including Saturday Suspense, Naagin, Chingari, Miley Jab Hum Tum, Aye Mere Humsafar, and Divya Drishti. Vaishnavi Mahant married film producer Leslie Macdonald on August 19, 1998. This couple was also blessed with a daughter named Margaret Macdonald.Vaishnavi is best known for her role as Geeta Vishwas in Mukesh Khanna's Shaktimaan.  She appeared in Colors TV's Shubharambh and Dangal TV's Aye Mere Humsafar in 2020.
